Most of my ancestors came from  Aberdeenshire Scotland and the surrounding areas.  Some of the more common names are Strichen, St. Fergus, Longside, Crimond, Pitsligo, and many others.  Old parish records are a wonderful source of information though sometimes they are mispelled, fragmented or lacking in completness/consistency.  One thing is sure, if you have Quirie ancestors, they very likely originated in Scotland!
